1. Introduction PurePGN (“we”, “our”, or “us”), developed by Appxidian, is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains our data collection practices for the PurePGN mobile application. Our core philosophy is providing a distraction-free analysis environment, and that extends to your privacy: we do not collect, store, transmit, or share any of your personal data.
2. Local Data Storage PurePGN is designed as an offline-first utility.
- Zero Cloud Tracking: All data generated or imported into the app—including chess games (PGNs), metadata, custom variations, and library configurations—is stored strictly locally on your device using a local database.
- No Telemetry or Ads: We do not embed third-party analytics trackers, crash reporters, or advertising SDKs. Your study habits and preparation remain entirely your own.
3. Lichess Integration PurePGN includes a feature that allows users to import their recent games from Lichess.org.
- Public Data Only: This feature utilizes the public Lichess API to fetch game data as text.
- No Authentication Stored: We do not require you to log in to Lichess through our app, nor do we request, capture, or store any passwords or authentication tokens.
- Local Processing: The games retrieved from Lichess are saved directly to your device’s local library. We do not track or log the usernames you search for.
4. Device Permissions To function properly, PurePGN utilizes native device capabilities when explicitly triggered by the user:
- File Sharing: When you choose to export a
.pgnor.fenfile, the app uses your operating system’s native share sheet. The app only accesses the temporary directory required to format these files for export. - We do not require or request persistent access to your contacts, location, camera, or microphone.
5. Third-Party Links Other than the direct API connection to Lichess.org for the sole purpose of fetching game data, PurePGN does not contain outbound links to third-party websites or services, ensuring a completely isolated study environment.
6. Children’s Privacy Because PurePGN does not collect any personal information or facilitate direct communication between users, it is safe for users of all ages, including children under the age of 13.
7. Changes to This Privacy Policy We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time if new features (such as secure, user-controlled cloud sync) are added to PurePGN. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated “Effective Date.”
